Lydia Lazar
Prior to joining YU Global as Executive Director for Global Partnerships, Lydia Lazar trained as an urban geographer and as an attorney, holds an AB degree in international relations from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree in geography from Columbia University with a focus on urban hydrology, and a JD from IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law. She is the past president of the Chicago Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America, a former president of the board of HealthConnect One (formerly the Chicago Health Connection), and a current member of the Board of Directors of WorldChicago.

The lecture will cover the following points, using examples from both China and the United States:
1) Main challenges our societies face - eg rapid urbanization, globalization, energy and environment, social and economic inequality, security and terrorism
2) Primary tools of Analysis - eg economic and other metrics, theories of causation and relevance
3) Processes and Challenges of Policy identification and Implementation - economics, policy, politics and law
4) Career Arcs and Individual Expectations - the roles of lawyers, scholars and others in addressing social challenges
After the lecture, Ms. Lazar will explain how Yeshiva University and its YU Global Online Initiative can provide students with a cost effective way to gain the skills they need to make a difference and get ahead in their careers.
